Two pending gun control laws in California have been stalled following challenges from the National Rifle Association, the Wall Street Journal reports.
A federal judge ruled last week in favor of the NRA’s state affiliate to halt a law, meant to go into effect July 1st, that would ban ownership of firearm magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds. Responding to a different NRA challenge last week, the California Office of Administrative Law denied proposed regulations by the Department of Justice that would have banned the sale of firearms with detachable magazines.
Both developments reflect the NRA’s new focus on challenging California gun restrictions—among the strictest and most complicated in the country—through litigation rather than ballot initiatives, according to the Journal.
