President Donald Trump called for a full investigation of “leaks of sensitive information” in the Manchester bombing investigation, which he called “a grave threat to our national security.”
Trump’s comments follow Britain’s decision to suspend intelligence sharing of the investigation into the bombing with the United States after American officials leaked information of the incident to the media.
“I am asking the Department of Justice and other relevant agencies to launch a complete review of this matter, and if appropriate, the culprit should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Trump said in a statement. “There is no relationship we cherish more than the Special Relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.”
Trump has faced criticism with leaks himself after sharing Israeli intelligence on the Islamic State with Russian officials.
