The photographer lets soil the texture of dry sand slip through his fingers at a farmer's field on April 25th, 2019, near Liebenwalde, Germany. Dry weather is leading farmers, particularly in Brandenburg state in northeastern Germany, to fear a possible drought this summer. A drought last summer hit many farmers hard. Scientists warn that soil and forests have not fully recovered, and dry weather could mean an even worse drought this summer. Firefighter associations have already appealed to the government for up to 20 additional helicopters for fighting possible forest fires.
