In May, Bruce Falconer wrote about entrepreneur Russ George and his role in a plan to seed the ocean with iron dust and thereby stimulate plankton blooms and fisheries (“Can Anyone Stop the Man Who Will Try Just About Anything to Put an End to Climate Change?“). According to a recent review of research from the University of Vermont, the world’s recovering population of whales may soon produce enough iron-rich fecal plumes to increase productivity in fisheries worldwide. George weighed in on his website: “I’ve been trumpeting this story for years. … Thanks for the back up guys.”
