Dean Falk is an evolutionary anthropologist who studies the brain, cognition, and culture. She is a distinguished research professor and the Hale G. Smith professor of anthropology at Florida State University, and a senior scholar at the School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has written about wide-ranging topics that include the origins of language and music, Albert Einstein's brain, and the discoveries of pathbreaking early hominins, such as Australopithecus africanus and Homo floresiensis ("hobbit"). Her most recent book, Geeks, Genes, and the Evolution of Asperger Syndrome (2018), is co-authored with her granddaughter Eve Penelope Schofield.
