John Mitchell is the Mary and Gordon Crary Family Professor at Stanford University's School of Engineering, professor of computer science, and (by courtesy) professor of electrical engineering and of education. He was appointed as Stanford's inaugural vice provost for online learning in 2012 and inaugural vice provost for teaching and learning in 2015. Mariko Silver is the president of Bennington College. Silver served as a senior adviser to the president of Arizona State University, as acting assistant secretary for international affairs and deputy assistant secretary for international policy in the Department of Homeland Security in the Obama administration, and as a policy adviser to Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano.
