An Armed Teacher Is in Custody After Shots Are Fired at a Georgia High School

An armed teacher was arrested after shots were fired at a Georgia high school Wednesday morning.

Just weeks after a mass shooting at Florida's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School took 17 lives, the Dalton Police Department responded to a report of "shot or shots" fired at Dalton High late Wednesday morning, and found the suspect, believed to be a teacher, barricaded in a classroom.

The suspect was quickly taken into custody, according to the department's official Twitter account.

One student reportedly sustained an ankle injury while evacuating the school, but no other students or teachers were harmed in the incident. Officials have yet to release any information regarding the shooter's identity or motivation.
