United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley lauded President Donald Trump at a press conference on Thursday for the fiery, precedent-breaking speech he delivered during the U.N. General Assembly earlier this week, the Hill reports.
In the speech, Trump promised to “totally destroy North Korea” if provoked by its leader, Kim Jong Un. (In return, Kim called Trump a “mentally deranged dotard,” which Merriam-Webster defines as a person who experiences “senile decay marked by decline of mental poise and alertness.”)
Though Trump’s speech was largely panned by foreign diplomats and policy experts (with the notable exception being Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu), Haley insisted on Thursday that world leaders were receptive to the speech, and said she appreciated the “blunt and honest” nature of Trump’s remarks.
