Two adults died Monday after a gunman opened fire at a San Bernardino elementary school just after 10:30 a.m. PST, Reuters reports.
San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan described the shooting, which took place in a classroom at North Park Elementary School, as a “murder-suicide.” In a series of tweets, Burguan said that a preliminary sweep of the campus indicated there were four victims total, two of whom are potentially students, and that the department believes the suspect “is down and there’s no further threat.”
The condition of the two wounded is unknown. Burguan added that officials have evacuated the school and have taken the students to a nearby high school for safety.
