A man drove a pick-up truck down a 20-block stretch of bike path in Lower Manhattan in New York City on Tuesday, killing eight and injuring at least 15.

The Home Depot rental truck struck cyclists and a school bus near Stuyvesant High School as it sped down a walkway bordering the Hudson River. Officials said they have not determined whether anyone was in the bus.

At the end of the rampage, the attacker jumped out of the truck wielding two fake guns and was shot by police, officials told the New York Times. He is being treated at a nearby hospital.

Both New York police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation suspect terrorism is behind the attack, according to the Washington Post. It’s the latest in a string of incidents in which attackers have used trucks as weapons to kill large masses of pedestrians.
