Metropolitan Detention Center security staff and the Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons Special Operations Response Team patrol the grounds after reports of a bomb threat at the facility on February 4th, 2019, in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. Power has been fully restored to the prison after inmates suffered the past week without heat or access to televisions, computers, or telephones. On Monday morning, the facility received a bomb threat following a weekend of protests against the frigid conditions and just hours after defense lawyers filed a lawsuit over this "humanitarian crisis."
