First, the answer to this week’s contest: University of California-San Diego. Many people guessed correctly, but we selected reader Shan Richards for the optimism in her answer:

This sculpture, “Fallen Star,” perches atop the Jacobs Hall, at the Jacobs School of Engineering. My son is one of the brilliant, young engineers who work there, making our future brighter!

Angela Chen submitted the photo. Chen explained that the picture of the installation—which was completed by artist Do Ho Suh—was taken on Warren Mall.
