First, the answer to last week’s contest: Columbia University. Many readers guessed correctly, but we selected winner Joe Rojas-Burke for the poetic color in his answer:

As undergrads at Columbia, we flocked to ‘The Steps’ in front of Lowe Library like marine iguanas on a rocky shore.

When he submitted the photograph back in March, Justin Taylor (who, by the way, once wrote a great piece for us about Icelandic goats) described the details of the scene this way:

[H]ere’s a view of the Columbia University main campus taken from the shared office in the graduate writing program (4th floor Dodge Hall), where I’m teaching this semester. As you can see, it’s rainy today. The steel barricades are for tomorrow. I think the president of Afghanistan is visiting.
