This picture from around 1900 shows Marie Curie (right), her husband Pierre (center), and assistant Edison Petit (left) working in their makeshift laboratory in Paris. Marie Curie and her husband discovered radium and won the Nobel prize for physics in 1903. Marie Curie was the first person to receive two Nobel prizes when she was awarded the Nobel prize for chemistry in 1911.
