FBI Re-Opens Probe of Clinton Foundation Donations

Agents from the Little Rock, Arkansas, field office are looking into whether any donations to the Clinton Foundation were made in exchange for political favors while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has re-launched an investigation into the Clinton Foundationlooking into whether any donations to the foundation were made in exchange for political favors while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, the Washington Post reports.

The investigation was temporarily halted during the 2016 election cycle, amid concerns that the Department of Justice would appear biased against Clinton, according to the Post.

Spokespeople for both Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation have criticized the probe, calling it “politically motivated” and a “sham.”

“Time after time, the Clinton Foundation has been subjected to politically motivated allegations, and time after time these allegations have been proven false. None of this has made us waver in our mission to help people,” Craig Minassian, a Clinton Foundation spokesman, said in a statement. “The Clinton Foundation has demonstrably improved the lives of millions of people across America and around the world while earning top ratings from charity watchdog groups in the process.”

Top Republicans, including President Donald Trump, have been calling for investigators to re-open probes of the Clinton Foundation and even Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
